Mr. V Perricone Consultant Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon
East Lancashire Hospital NHS Trust
Mr V Perricone was born in Palermo, Sicily, and studied medicine at the local medical school, University Policlinico, where he graduated with maximum grades in 1992. He was granted the right to practice medicine in Italy the next year and in UK in 1994. He worked predominantly in the North-West of England and completed the basic surgical rotation at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. Been appointed Fellow of the Royal College of Edinburgh in 1999, Mr Perricone moved to Wessex where he worked in vascular surgery at Portsmouth and in the academic unit in Southampton and in Basingstoke. He subsequently spent a year working in South Africa, at the Vascular Academic Unit of Pretoria, where he was appointed lecturer and where he developed his interest for vascular trauma and teaching. In 2006 he returned to the North-West of England where he completed his surgical vascular training.
Mr Perricone was appointed Consultant in Vascular Surgery at Blackpool Teaching Hospital in 2008. Within twelve months he was offered the role of clinical lead and was responsible for developing the EVAR program and for the introduction of an office-based treatment for varicose veins. In addition to the clinical work, he has been directly involved in the service reconfiguration process for the North-West of England. Such process has resulted to him moving to East Lancashire Hospital Trust, where he is currently working as consultant vascular surgeon.
Mr Perricone has been Trust Lead for Education in Vascular Surgery since 2017. He has a strong link with the University of Central Lancashire where he has been appointed as Lecturer in 2018.
